Video in Playground

Describe a scene, inspect a quote, follow progress and watch the saved video.

Generate a video in Playground

Open Playground → Video and choose one of your usable keys, a model and an offered route. Describe the scene, select an offered duration and output settings, and the price recalculates automatically. This sends settings for validation and a quote, not a generation. Only Launch video requests potentially billable work.

Progress and result

The progress window shows observed preparation, queueing, submission, rendering and result retrieval. It includes elapsed time and the operation ID. A percentage appears only when the supplier reports one; no estimated completion time is invented. Close or Escape hides the window, not the accepted operation. Show progress reopens it without a new request.

The completed MP4 appears automatically in the player with controls; the page does not autoplay sound. Use Download video to retain your own copy. A failed protected file read offers Read saved video for another download attempt, not another generation. The same movie is not downloaded on every settlement refresh.

History is independent of the form. New request clears the form without sending anything or deleting an older operation. Reading history never disables a fresh form. An unresolved submission whose acceptance response was lost is different: use Check submission to locate that same intent rather than creating a new one. Reload restores only opaque identifiers, not the original prompt, JSON body or result bytes. An unknown supplier outcome requires Support, not repeated launches.

Raw request, command and response

Raw request shows the JSON captured for the quote or create, the full endpoint, safe header placeholders, body size and SHA-256. Save exact request body saves video-request.json. The cURL / CLI tab uses that file and your own MODEL_API_KEY; run it from the file's directory. It addresses https://api.model-gate.com for this profile, or your configured custom API, never a different profile by fallback. A temporary browser permission is not printed as a reusable key. Executing a copied create may cost money; copying/saving alone does not execute it.

Raw response preserves original text, including spaces and safe API errors, with an envelope stating which service request was captured. A state readHTTP200 is not a success code for rendering. The256KiB capture limit and128KiB preview are distinct; only a complete valid UTF-8 capture is copyable as complete. The movie uses the player/download, not a fabricated text representation. Prompt, body, responses and tokens remain in tab memory; your clipboard and downloaded files are sensitive local copies.

Price and availability

The returned offer specifies a price per video or second. Changing settings invalidates the quote; the confirmed price context is checked at creation. The price does not come from MP4 byte count. Price quote, Calculated cost, Awaiting settlement and Debited describe different observations. Usage Limit valuation is not automatically equal to wallet money. Existing result reads do not request another charge, while a separately launched new intent can.

Some offers show Estimated price instead of a fixed quote. For per-second billing from the original video, this is the requested duration multiplied by the applicable rate. The final amount uses the actual measured duration of the saved MP4 and can differ, including fractional seconds. A fixed price per completed video does not change with the measured duration. Estimated Usage Limit valuation can be shown separately from the estimated wallet cost. Playground preserves the quote fingerprint and makes no hard maximum-cost promise for an estimate; Launch remains a separate paid action. The API rejects a hard cost ceiling on these estimated charges before generation, as described in the video API guide.

The selected offer can explicitly allow a first frame or a reference-image set. Use the Video input selector and upload supported raster files within the shown count/byte/pixel limits. Missing or invalid files show an exact reason beside Launch. Offers without reference capabilities remain text-only. Remix/editing, cancellation and synchronous output are not available. Only currently offered model/route combinations should be used; a familiar model name is not a promise of availability. Results normally expire24hours after creation, and unavailable or expired files are not silently regenerated.

ForAPI request fields and response/error semantics, see Video generation API. Contact Support with the local operation ID and code for outcome_unknown, review_required or a supplier failure; keep raw content and secrets out of public messages.

Output controls

The selected route determines the controls: a pixel size, separate Resolution and Aspect ratio selectors, or Aspect ratio alone alongside duration. In the last case, the unused size and resolution controls are hidden; use the selected offer's available durations and aspect ratios. Changing a route refreshes its defaults and clears the old quote. The price recalculates automatically before Launch. The Raw request and cURL tabs contain the actual selected fields; switching tabs never submits a new operation.

When Launch is unavailable

Launch stays unavailable until the current form has a successful price quote. Enter a prompt and wait for the automatic nonpaid price calculation. Check price remains available for an explicit retry. The explanation beside Launch identifies the missing step. Changing duration, resolution, aspect ratio or prompt requires a new quote; checking price does not generate a video.

History across your keys

Operation history lists your own operations across the keys currently available to you. Use Filter history by key to narrow the list and Older operations for the next page. Selecting an earlier result does not change the key or draft of a new request. Expired results may remain in history but cannot be downloaded again from expired storage. A revoked or unavailable key does not gain new access through history.

A prompt can have a route-specific character limit. When no additional cap is configured, request-size limits still apply; the displayed numeric cap constrains typing and paste by Unicode characters. Null does not add a character cap. A provider can impose its own constraints. Changing input triggers a fresh automatic quote before an explicit launch.

Repeated status reads show the actual stage of the same operation. Not every offer has a separate polling stage: a result can move from waiting for the response directly to retrieval and validation. Only observed completion marks the result ready; a percentage appears only when supplied, never from a local timer.

The prompt counter explicitly displays prompt_max_chars. Changing to a stricter route preserves an existing draft but blocks launch with its actual count until corrected. Accounting details reads the separate full view; missing accounting fields in a compact response do not mean free or settled work.

Get the result · Raw / cURL

After launching or selecting an operation in history, open Get the result · Raw / cURL immediately after Request and response in the result column. Operation history is the last block, spanning the full workspace width below both the form and results. Choose Operation status, Result manifest (JSON), or Video file (MP4). The MP4 command uses /content; /result is metadata, not a playable video.

The displayed Operation key ID belongs to the history item, not necessarily to the key selected for a new form. Use that operation's authorized key and original actor context. Copying does not transfer access to another key or account. The API origin is https://api.model-gate.com for this profile, or the configured API origin of your current domain. No fallback to another profile is used.

The Raw block contains the bodyless GET endpoint and a safe Authorization placeholder. The cURL block uses your locally supplied MODEL_API_KEY and saves the response to a file. Browser tokens and key secrets are never copied. The commands have no create body, Content-Type, Idempotency-Key, quote or cost limit. Copy Raw and Copy cURL only copy text; selecting a command neither starts a download nor launches new work.

These are generated examples for another read, not the original request log. A command can be shown while a job is pending; it does not prove the result exists. Check status first and handle unavailable, expired or access-denied replies as errors, not media. --fail-with-body can write an HTTP error to the output file; check its exit status before opening that file. A failed read is not permission for another paid create. See the result API for complete examples.
